Sara Dutton-Howard
MSW
I am an advanced-year student at Arizona State University, School of Social Work pursuing my graduate degree. I am currently transitioning from being a High School ESOL teacher of 5+ years to this path to continue working with children and adolescents in their walk through life. Through my experience as a teacher and my academic journey I have created a strong foundation to understand the nuances of mental health and meeting each person where they are at. In my practice I look to see each person as an individual and learn how to leverage their assets that they bring to the table and understand their intersecting identities to provide culturally competent and informed care. Also with my Bachelors in Spanish from Arizona State University, I bring my second language of Spanish. This allows me to provide care for Spanish speaking individuals, and families. This along with my experience as an ESOL teacher provide me with a large understanding of different cultures and different views on how to approach mental health. I hope to continue working with this population as I make my transition into the Olney Counseling Center and in my future career as a Social Worker.
